“Man vs. Baby”: Will there be a second season on Netflix?

Advertisemen

After the utter chaos of Trevor Bingley's Christmas was finally over, many fans were left wondering what on earth was next for "Man vs. Baby". The ending pretty much leaves you hanging - but what are the real chances of getting another season?

Bringing back Trevor Bingley - and this time with a baby in tow - Netflix did exactly what they did with "Man vs. Bee" in a similar slapstick world that Rowan Atkinson stumbles around in. But this time it was a four-episode mini series, and before you could even get into it, the ending had already got people talking - and wondering if there's more to come. But the answer, I'm afraid, is a bit sobering.

Before the ink had even dried on the release date, Netflix made it pretty clear that "Man vs. Baby" is just that - a single Christmas special, nothing more, which is a bit different from "Man vs. Bee", which came out in 2022 with 9 episodes, but not by much. No, this thing was always intended to be a standalone miniseries, with just four episodes to wrap it all up.

So as it stands right now, there will be no Episode 5 - I'm afraid that just isn't going to happen. Nor is there any official word from Netflix or the people behind the show - Rowan Atkinson and Will Davies - about a second season, and you can bet your life that there won't be one at this point.

Why a continuation is unlikely

While "Man vs. Baby" does end on a bit of a cliffhanger, that's not really anything new when it comes to Atkinson's projects - I mean, "Man vs. Bee" was exactly the same, only with a different set of wacky situations to stumble into. Netflix itself basically just described "Man vs. Baby" as a bit more of the same, only this time with a baby to muck things up.

And to make matters worse, every "Man vs." production so far has started with a completely new idea - so if Trevor Bingley was to pop up again, you can bet it would be in another special that's all brand new, as opposed to getting a second season of "Man vs. Baby".

Still got your fingers crossed though?

There's not much to be said - Rowan Atkinson still has it, and "Man vs. Bee" showed that perfectly. The real question now is how well "Man vs. Baby" does around the world - if it does really well, then who knows? Maybe those greedy folk at Netflix might just see a bit of a return on their cash on this one. But as it stands right now, "Man vs. Baby" is very much a one-off. Don't completely give up hope just yet, though - Netflix has left the door open, but it's more like they're keeping it on a string...
