Angelina Jolie has been showing herself without filters for the first time after revealing the scars from the preventive mastectomy she underwent over ten years ago. This is the first time she has shown these scars. This is what she has chosen to show from a photoshoot for TIME France, a preview of which has been published over the past few hours.

In the preview, we can see the actress wearing a black sweater, resting one of her arms on the bed, and keeping a direct gaze at the camera. As for the decision to show her scars, Jolie explained she did it on behalf of all women who have had to go through this, who are struggling with breast cancer, or are currently fighting it. "I share these scars with a lot of women whom I love. It touches me very much. Whenever I see other women showing theirs, I get really emotional," she said, and she expressed her desire to stand with other women, and for this to be useful to provide some necessary information.

The TIME France feature includes detailed articles about breast health, prevention, and understanding breast cancer. Back in 2013, the Oscar-winning actress shared her decision to have a preventive double mastectomy. This was after she found out she had the BRCA1 gene mutation, which really ups the risk of developing breast cancer. Her choice made global news. "I did it to encourage informed choices," the Tomb Raider star remembered.

"Health decisions should be personal," Jolie stated. "But women really need access to the right information and support." She also recently spoke out very forcefully about the situation in the United States.
