Ryan Reynolds recently confirmed that Rob McElhenney will make a cameo in the long-awaited Deadpool and Wolverine. This revelation comes via a promotional video for Welcome to Wrexham, the series documenting the acquisition and management of Wrexham AFC by Reynolds and McElhenney. During the video, Reynolds explained that to discuss issues surrounding the football club, McElhenney visited the set of the new Deadpool and Wolverine film in London. However, to facilitate this visit, Reynolds had to promise McElhenney a role in the Marvel film. Reynolds joked about the MCU's strict confidentiality rules, saying: “For confidentiality reasons, no one can see or hear any of this. I can't tell you what character Rob plays in Deadpool and Wolverine for fear of getting shot by the Marvel drone that follows me and my kids around.”

The addition of McElhenney to the cast of Deadpool and Wolverine is just one of the many surprises that the film promises to reserve for fans. Reynolds further fueled speculation regarding other possible cameos in the film. Among the most intriguing rumors, there is also talk of an appearance by Taylor Swift. During an interview with Fandango, Reynolds showed his amusement at the speculation, saying, “For a movie like this there's so much speculation, so many people that could end up in the movie. I mean, I saw one who thought Elvis was in the movie. Anything could happen, and that's what I love about this universe and this world. Surprises are the essence of Deadpool.”

Confirmed cast members for Deadpool and Wolverine also include Matthew Macfadyen as Paradox, Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova, and several actors returning from previous Deadpool films: Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlysle, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Stefan Kapičić as Piotr Rasputin/Colossus, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Warhead, Rob Delaney as Peter and Lewis Tan as Shatterstar. Additionally, Aaron Stanford will reprise his role as Pyro from the X-Men film series and Jennifer Garner will return as Elektra Natchios.
