In Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth play the characters of Empress Furiosa and Warlord Dementus respectively, offering audiences a deeper immersion into the post-apocalyptic world created by George Miller. The film, directed by Taylor-Joy and written by Miller, aims to explore Furiosa's origins and the environment of the Wasteland outside of Max's story. Taylor-Joy underlined the importance of the collaboration with Miller, highlighting how the director allowed the cast to contribute ideas to improve the film while maintaining a clear vision of their narrative world. This created a collaborative creative environment, where everyone felt they could back their ideas with conviction. This is the synopsis of the film:

As the world collapses, the young Furiosa is kidnapped from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a large horde of bikers led by the warlord Dementus. Traveling through the Wasteland, they come across the Citadel, presided over by Immortan Joe. As the two Tyrants battle for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she scrapes together the means to find her way home. Playing a character as skilled behind the wheel as Furiosa pushed Taylor-Joy to consider getting a driver's license and even a stunt license, inspired by working with the stunt team on set.

I was so happy because the stuntmen are so amazing. I was immediately drawn into this family of people where I thought, “Yes, I want to be your friend and I want to do everything you're doing.” Chris Hemsworth revealed that he drew inspiration for his role in Furiosa from dictators and charismatic leaders to capture the essence of his character. It was really nice to have this opportunity. Charisma was a big thing that George talked about from day one, two years before filming; the common point between dictators and people in power who had amassed large followings is that there had to be an air of charisma. But it was so refreshing to do something different and do something that gave me the opportunity to explore new roles. I love playing Thor, but even that character has his limitations.
